Welcome to Executive Coaching

Frequently Asked Questions

What is executive coaching?

Executive coaching is an investment in an organization’s leaders and is designed to maximize their performance and potential.  During the coaching process, a coach works one-on-one with the leader to help the leader achieve goals, enhance leadership capabilities, and successfully implement the strategy of the organization.

I’ve been around the block a few times. Why do I need an executive coach?

We believe that leaders make things happen.  The extent to which you can align and engage the efforts of your teams toward a common goal speaks to your leadership capability.  Regardless of how many years of experience or how many blocks you’ve been around…there is always an opportunity to grow and improve how you show up as a leader.

What is your coaching process?

Typical coaching engagements are 3-6 months in duration with one hour coaching sessions occurring every 2-3 weeks and “coach on call” availability.  Engagements usually include 360 feedback as well as the suite of Hogan assessments.  Depending on client needs and preference, coaching sessions are conducted via teleconference, video conference or in-person.

How will results be tracked, and who will know about these results?

The results of the coaching can be tracked through the 360 assessment and follow up survey. To ensure the coaching is effective, there must be trust between the coach and the leader who receives the coaching.  Therefore, the details of the coaching sessions are kept confidential between the coach and leader. The coach will share the high level objectives and general progress of the coaching engagement with the sponsoring organization, and the leader will be encouraged to involve the stakeholders with whom he or she works throughout the coaching process.

What is your educational background and what are your coaching qualifications?

  • 20 year corporate background–starting with sales and customer service with the last 15 years spent in consulting and leadership roles in which I used coaching to develop leaders at all levels

  • International Coach Federation certified coach

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development and Leadership

  • Experience coaching leaders from an array of industries including IT, healthcare, financial services, HR services, retail, pharma, and real estate

What is your coaching approach and style?

Coaching Philosophy

I help successful leaders elevate their leadership capabilities and reach their full potential. The coaching process begins with the foundation--feedback from key stakeholders and leadership assessments. From there, we work together to create a development plan and use our coaching sessions to translate that plan into action.  Involving the stakeholders at key touchpoints during the coaching engagement is a critical part of the process.

Leadership Requires Action and Reflection

In a world that is dominated by action and reactivity, speed, and a constant barrage of information, sometimes what leaders need the most is the opportunity to pause and reflect before moving into action.  As a coach, I give clients the support and accountability they need to identify their goals and be deliberate in the actions they take to achieve those goals.

Leadership Requires Systems Thinking

Today's business environment is composed of complex inter-dependencies. To be effective, leaders must have a deep understanding of their organization, their industry, and their marketplace. I coach leaders to think beyond their immediate environment, evaluate interdependencies, and anticipate the implications of their actions.

Successful Leaders Elevate Others

What differentiates the most successful leaders goes beyond their business savvy and ability to achieve results.  The most successful leaders influence and inspire others as they build positive relationships with their teams, their peers, and across the organization.  In order to do this, leaders need to have self-awareness and a desire to improve their capabilities and relationships.  Coaching, particularly when used in conjunction with leadership assessments and 360 feedback, provides the foundation for self-awareness and the springboard for actions that lead to success.
